The Carmes Family Estate

Our wine estate has been established in the Mâcon region since the 1970s. Driven by the same passion as his grandfather, the founding winemaker of Domaine des Carmes, the grandson took over the family estate in 1998 and continues to work the vineyards with respect for tradition.

Located in Bissy-la-Mâconnaise, in the heart of the Mâconnais, our estate benefits from the southernmost terroir of Burgundy’s vineyards. This privileged setting allows us to craft wines that fully express the richness and distinctive character of our region.

Domaine des Carmes

In the Heart of Burgundy’s Wine Region

The history of Burgundy is closely tied to the wine produced in its vineyards. Even today, Burgundy wines shine worldwide, reflecting the richness of this winemaking heritage.

During your visit to the estate, you can also explore the many sites that make our region so charming. Located near Chalon-sur-Saône, Tournus, Le Creusot, Montceau-les-Mines, Bourg-en-Bresse, Pont-de-Vaux, and Cluny, our estate lies along the Romanesque churches trail and the famous Burgundy Wine Route.

Just a few kilometers away, the Abbey of Cluny recalls the history of the monks who, centuries ago, played a major role in shaping the Mâconnais vineyards as we know them today.
